The Energy Makers Academy app and hardware is an educational resource that teaches students how a solar charge controller works, by building one.
Unlike traditional educational resources, which do not build tangible objects, Energy Makers Academy allows students to build the brains of a solar home system.In order to support learning about energy, electronics and programming the app delivers lessons, quizzes and interactive visual illustrations.
This content ranges from simple text to interactive graphs, giving students multiple ways to engage with their learning.As well as delivering content, the Energy Makers Academy app provides students with a programming environment where they can write simple embedded software, which they can upload to the microprocessor on the hardware kit, via Bluetooth.
Software development is done using a block-based language, meaning that no programming experience is needed.Learning progress trackingWe provide data to both students and educators to highlight areas where students need to improve their understanding.
